7 Steps to Embody the Gifts of Your Sensitivity, Understand Your Emotional Brain, Navigate Overwhelm & Flourish as an HSP

As a highly sensitive person (HSP), you might often feel buried by overwhelm, high stress, and exhaustion in our modern, fast-paced world, which isn’t always set up for a sensitive system. 

You feel things so deeply that it can be wounding to see suffering in the world. It takes a little longer to recover, and requires extra downtime — especially when you’ve been busy, or around lots of people or stimulation. 

You care deeply and often go out of your way to help others. You might wish you had more energy and didn’t feel so overloaded by all the demands of life. 

On top of it all, you may often feel misunderstood in your relationships and experience the world in a different way than the majority. Maybe you have things you want to do and accomplish in life, but find it hard to find the energy to do it all...

This used to be my experience too. 

I wanted a loving relationship, children, and meaningful work where I could make a difference — but it all felt so difficult when I felt so sensitive and tired! 

When I learned that 20% of the population adapted to develop these traits as a survival strategy, I knew HSPs were here for a reason and that our differences weren’t something we should change or hide. Instead, we should embrace and support these differences!

You're different for a reason. The survival of the population depends on it. You just need to learn what works to support your sensitive needs within the demands of hectic modern life — so you can live balanced and aligned, with greater access to your many gifts and extra creativity!

One of the aspects of my research that excites me most is that we can activate particular calming centers in the brain intentionally, which can also deactivate stress centers. Imagine having more control over your stress and energy!

I’ve become a personal trainer of sorts for the HSP brain, and it’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. 

Training my own brain to reduce overwhelm and allow me access to greater energy meant I could share more of my gifts and live a full life as an HSP. I’m able to be my best self in the world as a partner, mother, and friend — and give back to the world. 

My way of changing the world is one HSP at a time. Because when you move from survival mode to thriving, you too will positively impact the world with your gifts.
