Finding practitioners who understand what autism looks like in adult women can be challenging. State laws only allow therapists to diagnose in the state where they hold their license. My license is in California, so I can offer diagnoses to women in California.
I also offer consultations to women globally to help them determine if their traits are autistic. These consultations offer information but not a diagnosis, which, for many, is enough.
To support the most women, I offer a couple of options:
For those living outside of California: I offer global consultations where I can help determine if your traits are autistic. While this is not a formal diagnosis, many find it meets their needs because I have a deep understanding of how autism presents in women.
For those living in California: I offer Autism Assessments specifically for sensitive women who suspect they may be autistic.

We will use Zoom Video for assessments. If you book consultations, you can use an audio-only, video, or live written chat session. If you live in the United States and want to do audio-only, we can also talk by phone for consultation sessions. If we work together via Zoom, you will be sent a unique link by email. If you have never used Zoom before, please watch the video below and arrive early to get set up.
Questions About Autism Assessments
-
Autism assessments include three 45-minute one-on-one sessions. You will book Adult Autism Session 1 first to complete the required paperwork. You will book Adult Autism Assessments 2 and 3 for the remaining sessions.
-
No, I do not include a formal written report to make the diagnostic assessment more affordable.
-
Most assessment practitioners in California don't accept insurance, and undergoing a private assessment can range from $5,000 to $10,000. Most of the cost is for the practitioner's work outside sessions, such as scoring assessment measures and writing the report.
In contrast, an assessment with me is $1,350 (3 sessions). Four collaborative sessions, with some brief time outside of sessions for me to reflect on the collected data. As no written report is provided at the end of the process, this approach saves you thousands of dollars on your adult autism assessment.
Conducting the assessment in this manner allows me to build a deeper understanding of you over several sessions. This gradual approach fosters a sense of comfort and encourages you to become progressively more authentic in our sessions, a crucial element for accurate identification. The conversations we have during these sessions allow for gathering a more diverse range of data, significantly enhancing the accuracy of identifying autism in adults, especially women.

If you're looking to understand whether you might be Autistic for personal reasons, undergoing an assessment with me is a suitable option. However, if you need a written report for submission to a school or a government agency to secure accommodations or services, in that case, opting for a formal neuropsychological assessment that concludes with a comprehensive written report is advisable. Many colleges mandate an assessment report for accessing accommodations, so ensuring compliance is important.
