Are you ready to be a spiritual leader? Guest Post from Bevin Niemann
Many spiritual teachings have a clearly defined path to leadership. Formal study for a number of years, mentorship under an experienced leader, practicum to try out your new skills before you fly out of the nest.
Other than predefined steps, how do you truly know when you’re ready for spiritual leadership? Is there an official bestowal? A moment of insight or an inner knowing? How will you know if you study more than one teaching? If you mix and match, so to speak?
Becoming a spiritual leader involves these commitments:
· Deep inner reflection daily, otherwise known as ‘doing your own work’
· Continuous study, not only of spiritual texts but also being an avid observer of the world around you, noticing synchronicities, patterns, listening to your intuition, acknowledging the strengths and fragility of the human condition
· Constant awareness of when you’re in a mindset of separation and when you’re connected with Oneness
· Cultivating the stillness within, as often as possible
· Elevating above the drama, over and over as many times as it takes to cultivate the habit of higher vibration
· Holding others in their own power without a need to fix or rescue them
· Spiritual leadership includes self-responsibility — your words, your actions, your decisions will now be on display for all to see
· Stretching your capacity for vulnerability as you become more public
· Aligning the soul and ego, each in their rightful place, working in partnership
· A sense of joy that you chose to come here for this purpose, retaining a childlike sense of wonder, curiosity, and delight
· Stepping courageously into your personal power while also balancing with the energy of humility
· Realizing the more you study, the less you know and the more questions there are to be asked
· Standing strongly in your authenticity, even when others do not understand or accept you

Some men have expressed frustration about my focus on women’s autism experiences, but this emphasis addresses a longstanding research gap that makes women-centered support essential.
