Effective Communication Strategies for HSPs

Many HSPs struggle to communicate when emotional or overwhelmed. This was one of the many events we did in my Sensitive Empowerment Community and so many HSPs found it was really helpful so I wanted more of you to see it in hopes it helps you have healthier relationships at home and at work!

I've shared the 5 step communication strategy a bit in previous events and there has been an interest to turn this into a complete event so here it is! If you struggle to communicate when you feel emotional this information will help!

Common HSP challenges that we discuss antidotes for in the video:

  • Fight/flight activated from:

    • Self-doubt

    • Self-criticism

    • Self-judgment (fear of being not enough or too much)

    • Fear of upsetting people with a different opinion

    • Negative self talk

  • Activating flight/flight (losing memory, getting flushed, sweating)

  • Overwhelmed by too much talking or dominant people

  • Hard to get your voice heard in groups and at work meetings

  • Hard to set boundaries and say no

  • Need longer processing time

  • Phone avoidant

  • Over-giving causes an inbalance leading to resentment

  • Unmet needs because of overgiving during compromise

  • Not feeling heard or understood
