Letter to Give Your Medical & Mental Health Practitioners About High Sensitivity
Educate & Advocate
I would encourage you to share this free downloadable letter (below) with your medical and mental health providers. It gives you a good entry into discussing important aspects of this trait that your practitioner should be aware of to offer you the best care and also prevent misdiagnosis. It can also help you advocate for your unique needs.
When you take the time to educate your practitioners about this trait it benefits you, the practitioner, and all the other highly sensitive people who come after you. There are 1.4 billion highly sensitive people in the world and educating your practitioners will help everyone.
Part of advocating for your wellness is finding practitioners who will also honor you by learning more about you. Let them know that understanding this trait is an important part of understanding how to know what type of care is right for you. If you feel like your practitioner is not willing or interested in learning more about this trait, then find one that is. You can explore my HSP Practitioners Directory to find the right fit for you. If your practitioner does honor you, let them know about getting added to this directory so we can connect them with other HSPs too!
If you need to learn more information about this trait of high sensitivity I recommend exploring my website that is filled with articles and videos, podcasts, books, and highly recommended courses all dedicated to this trait. Educating yourself fully about this trait, and then advocating for your needs will make all the difference in receiving the best care. I also invite you to join my amazing Sensitive Empowerment Community where I offer daily support and weekly live events.

Some men have expressed frustration about my focus on women’s autism experiences, but this emphasis addresses a longstanding research gap that makes women-centered support essential.
